It's comforting to know that Erik Nording's Hunting Pipe series is dedicated to raising awareness for global conservation efforts, lest the combination of "Hunting" and "Elephant" in the title would be extremely concerning. Additionally, these pipes take inspiration in their shapes from the animals they are named after, something that's very easily seen in this Horn-like bent Dublin, as the entire profile is essentially that of an Elephant's head, with the curling shank and stem being its trunk (or tusk, depending on what you see). The entirety of it is possessed of a consistent, sinuous expansion, with the curvature about the transition gradually upturning to lift the heel and raise the bowl into prominence. This area is also home to a textural rustication, with the carved briar looking far darker than its smooth, smoky stained surroundings, adding a handsome contrast to the composition overall.
