Characterized by their extra-long stems, Churchwarden pipes promote a comfortable smoking posture, and pair quite naturally with a good book. The stem's protracted length minimizes hand movement, while additionally cooling the smoke as it travels from the bowl's chamber to the mouthpiece's bit. Erik Nørding, though perhaps best known for his Danish Fancy Freehand pipes, is no stranger to Churchwarden designs, offering a wide assortment of different renditions within his portfolio. This particular Churchwarden piece takes the form of a muscular Freehand, exhibiting a steady flare to its bowl and offering more than enough substance for the fingers to embrace. It's tastefully dressed in one of Nørding's partial rustications.
