What's particularly impressed me about Wessex over the years has been their ability to provide hand-cut stems at such low price points. A hand-cut stem can double the price of a pipe, but you wouldn't know it with this brand. In this example, a smooth rim presides over the medium profile sandblast for some contrast of texture, and we also find the stem is of cumberland. Grain orientation is situated in just the right way to offer some lovely vertical growth rings at the fore and blasted birdseye on either flank of the bowl.
